San Francisco City Hall Micro-Wedding
Amber & Lane: From College Friends to Soulmates at San Francisco City Hall
Some love stories are instant, and some are beautifully patient—built slowly, with intention and care. Amber and Lane’s story is the latter. What began as a friendship in college blossomed over the years into something deep, steadfast, and extraordinary. After eight years together, they tied the knot in an intimate San Francisco City Hall wedding, followed by portraits at the romantic Palace of Fine Arts.
How It All Began
Amber and Lane first met in college, where their connection grew naturally through laughter, shared experiences, and time. Lane was immediately drawn to Amber’s kind and thoughtful nature, but Amber wanted to take her time. Lane would be her first boyfriend, and she wanted to make sure their foundation was steady.
That patience shaped their relationship into something rare—friendship first, love next, and a bond strong enough to carry them through eight years of life together before their wedding day.
A Botanical Garden Proposal
Two years before their wedding, Lane proposed to Amber in one of the most beautiful places in San Francisco: the San Francisco Botanical Garden. Surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant blooms, it was the perfect backdrop for a moment that symbolized growth, love, and the next chapter of their journey together. The Botanical Garden proposal was a reflection of their relationship—calm, natural, and full of quiet joy.
A Romantic Ceremony at San Francisco City Hall
San Francisco City Hall is known for its breathtaking architecture, and it couldn’t have been a more fitting place for Amber and Lane to exchange vows. Beneath the ornate dome and golden chandeliers, they shared tender moments that felt timeless.
Some of my favorite highlights from their ceremony included:
The Dome Portraits: Standing at the center of the grand rotunda, Amber and Lane shared a kiss that seemed to fill the entire space with love. The light poured in beautifully, framing them like they were always meant to be there.
The Small Glances: Between the posed shots were moments where they simply looked at each other with familiarity, comfort, and undeniable love—the kind that only comes from years of truly knowing one another.
City Hall weddings are perfect for couples looking for intimacy without sacrificing elegance, and Amber and Lane’s ceremony was the perfect example of that balance.
Portraits at the Palace of Fine Arts
After their ceremony, we made our way to the Palace of Fine Arts, one of San Francisco’s most iconic portrait locations. The transition from City Hall’s marble grandeur to the lush greenery and dramatic columns of the Palace created a gallery full of variety and romance.
Some standout moments:
Among the Ferns: Lane gently cradling Amber’s face while she looked up at him with absolute trust—her butterfly tattoo subtly visible, a beautiful symbol of transformation and growth.
Beneath the Columns: The sun filtered through the towering stonework as they shared a laugh and quiet embrace, reminding me that some of the best photos are born from candid connection.
The Exit Shot: Walking hand in hand beneath the golden doors of City Hall, Amber lifted her dress gracefully, and both of them smiled with pure joy—it was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Love Rooted in Friendship
What made this wedding day so special wasn’t just the stunning locations, but the history Amber and Lane brought with them. Their love story is proof that the strongest relationships are those built on friendship, trust, and shared time.
From a college friendship, to a romantic proposal at the Botanical Garden, to saying “I do” at San Francisco City Hall, Amber and Lane’s wedding was a celebration of everything they had grown together.
Tips for Couples Planning a City Hall Wedding
If you’re inspired by Amber and Lane’s story, here are a few tips for planning your own San Francisco City Hall wedding:
Book your ceremony early. City Hall ceremonies are popular, especially on Fridays—reserve your spot in advance.
Plan for morning photos. The earlier hours are quieter and offer the best lighting inside the rotunda.
Consider a second location for portraits. Like Amber and Lane, heading to the Palace of Fine Arts (or even back to the Botanical Garden where they got engaged) adds variety and romance to your gallery.
Embrace the architecture. From staircases to archways, City Hall provides so many iconic backdrops—don’t rush through them!
Final Thoughts
Amber and Lane’s wedding day was a reminder of how powerful love can be when it’s rooted in friendship and nurtured with time. Their ceremony at San Francisco City Hall and portraits at the Palace of Fine Arts created a gallery filled with elegance, joy, and intimate connection.
For couples dreaming of a San Francisco elopement or intimate wedding, this city offers endless possibilities for beauty and romance. And for me as their photographer, capturing Amber and Lane’s story was an honor I won’t forget.

Beach location in San Francisco For a Photoshoot
Baker Beach – Elegant Bay Area Portrait Photography
There’s something magical about combining natural beauty with the unique charm of the Bay Area coastline. For this session, we headed to Baker Beach in San Francisco, a location that offers stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, soft sandy shores, and an ever-changing sky that makes every photo unique.
Why Baker Beach is Perfect for Portraits
Baker Beach is one of the most versatile photography spots in San Francisco. Whether you’re planning a solo portrait session, engagement shoot, or even branding photos, this location offers:
Iconic Views – The Golden Gate Bridge in the background creates instantly recognizable, frame-worthy images.
Neutral & Natural Colors – The sandy beach, soft blue-gray water, and rocky cliffs provide a beautiful backdrop for any outfit.
Dynamic Weather – From moody fog to bright, airy skies, the light here changes constantly, making every session unique.
The Look – Elegant, Modern, and Effortless
For this shoot, my client wore a fitted, long-sleeved floral dress in blush and black. The floral pattern added a soft, romantic touch, while the neutral tones complemented the coastal scenery perfectly. The gentle breeze added natural movement to her hair, giving the portraits an effortless, candid feel.
(Image caption: Elegant floral dress portrait session at Baker Beach in San Francisco.)
Timing Your Baker Beach Photoshoot
We photographed this session on a softly overcast afternoon, which acted like a natural diffuser, creating flattering, even light. This type of lighting is perfect for portraits because it avoids harsh shadows while keeping the colors rich and true.
Tips for Your Own Bay Area Beach Photoshoot
Dress for the Breeze – Flowy fabrics and fitted outfits both work beautifully, but be prepared for wind.
Keep Colors in Mind – Soft neutrals or bold, rich colors pop beautifully against the sand and sea.
Arrive Early – Baker Beach can get busy, especially on weekends. Arriving a bit early means more open space for your portraits.
If you’re dreaming of your own Bay Area beach photoshoot—whether at Baker Beach or another coastal gem—I’d love to help you capture timeless, natural portraits that reflect your style and personality.
5 2025 Wedding Trend’s We’re taking into 2026
As 2025 comes to a close, one thing is clear—this year has been all about personality, nature, and heartfelt moments. From bold florals to intimate vows, couples have been creating celebrations that feel authentic, emotional, and visually stunning.
As a Sacramento, Bay Area, and Lake Tahoe wedding photographer, I’ve seen some incredible trends this year that I know we’ll be carrying into 2026. If you’re planning your wedding for the year ahead, here’s the inspiration worth keeping.
1. Bright, Springy Florals All Year Round
Gone are the days when bright florals were only for spring weddings. In 2025, couples brought bold color palettes into every season—think pink peonies in November, coral roses in January, and pastel ranunculus paired with fall foliage.
Florists are mixing seasonal blooms with imported favorites so you can have a “spring garden” feel any time of year. These vibrant arrangements bring joy and energy to wedding photos, no matter the month.
2. Nature-Centered Weddings
Whether it’s a mountaintop ceremony in Lake Tahoe, a vineyard celebration in Napa, or a coastal elopement in Half Moon Bay, couples are leaning into nature as their backdrop.
Outdoor ceremonies allow for breathtaking views, organic lighting, and décor that blends seamlessly with the environment. Even indoor venues are bringing nature in through greenery installations, wooden textures, and natural color palettes.
3. Dramatic, Long Trains on Wedding Dresses
Statement trains are back in a big way. Brides are choosing gowns with flowing, regal trains that photograph beautifully—especially in wide, scenic shots.
The best part? These trains add drama without taking away from mobility. Many designers are now creating detachable trains or overskirts so brides can have the best of both worlds: elegance for the ceremony and comfort for the dance floor.
4. Embracing a Little Dirt
This year, I’ve seen more couples embrace the idea that a little dirt on your dress is a sign of a day well-lived. Whether it’s hiking for a mountaintop first look or wandering through a meadow for sunset portraits, brides aren’t letting a pristine hemline hold them back from incredible photos.
The result? Wedding galleries that feel adventurous, romantic, and unapologetically real.
5. Private Vow Exchanges (With Photo & Video Present)
One of my favorite trends is couples taking time before the ceremony to exchange personal vows privately.
These moments often happen during a first look or in a quiet corner of the venue, with only the photographer and videographer present. It allows couples to be fully present with each other, share emotions without an audience, and still have those memories beautifully documented.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we step into the new year, I expect we’ll see these trends evolve and blend: brighter florals mixed with earth tones, even more nature-driven weddings, and a continued focus on authenticity over tradition.
If you’re planning your 2026 wedding and want photography that captures both the trends and the timeless moments, I’d love to talk about your vision. From Sacramento vineyards to Tahoe mountaintops, your story deserves to be told in full color.

Choosing an outfit for your bay area or sacramento photoshoot - branding and headshot photos
How to Choose the Perfect Outfit for Your Bay Area Garden Photoshoot
When planning a photoshoot in a beautiful outdoor setting like a Bay Area garden, your outfit plays a huge role in how your photos turn out. The right colors, textures, and styles can make your portraits pop and blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
These portraits from a recent session perfectly show how thoughtful wardrobe choices can elevate your images.
1. Pick a Color That Stands Out
In lush green spaces like gardens, wearing a bold color can make you the focal point of the image. In this session, my client’s vibrant orange dress created a stunning contrast against the greenery and soft white flowers. Jewel tones, deep reds, mustard yellows, and rich blues work beautifully in similar settings.
(Image caption: Portrait in a bold orange dress at a Bay Area garden photoshoot.)
2. Choose Comfortable but Elegant Fabrics
You’ll likely be walking on brick paths, grass, or garden trails during your shoot, so choose clothing you can move in. Flowing dresses, linen shirts, or cotton blends not only look great but also photograph well in natural light.
(Image caption: Relaxed garden photoshoot outfit in soft, breathable fabric.)
3. Accessorize with Purpose
A simple watch, a delicate bracelet, or even a flower in your hair can add personality to your portraits without taking attention away from your face.
4. Coordinate Without Overmatching
If you’re taking couple or family photos, coordinate your outfits with complementary colors instead of identical ones. Think warm earth tones together or mixing bold colors with neutral tones.
5. Be Yourself
Most importantly, wear something that feels like you. Confidence comes through in photos, and when you feel comfortable, your smile and posture will naturally shine.
Ready for Your Own Bay Area Garden Photoshoot?
Whether you want vibrant and bold or soft and romantic, we’ll work together to create a look that matches your vision. I’ll also help you choose the perfect Bay Area location—whether that’s Elizabeth Gamble Garden or another hidden gem.

DIY Wedding tips from a Sacramento Wedding Photographer
We all know that a good photographer can make any setting look good, but, there is a limit to how good that is when things get too tacky or look too DIY. As a wedding and portrait photographer, I’ve worked in everything from luxury ballrooms to backyard setups, and here’s the truth: photos capture the essence of your day, but they also capture everything else around you. If the backdrop feels cluttered, overly themed, or distracts from the couple, no amount of editing magic can truly fix it.
Why Décor Matters as Much as Photography
When you invest in professional photography, you’re paying for someone who knows how to find the best angles, light, and moments. But if your wedding arch is leaning, the linens clash, or the backdrop feels like it belongs in a high school prom, it’s going to show. The eye naturally picks up on these little details in photos—sometimes more than in real life.
Finding the Balance Between Personal & Polished
Personal touches are beautiful and meaningful. Maybe it’s a handmade sign, a DIY bouquet, or a family heirloom woven into the décor. But the key is balance. A few personal details elevate your photos and make them unique. Too many, or poorly executed, can distract from the actual story: you and your partner.
Tip #1: If you’re going DIY, focus on one or two standout pieces instead of trying to do everything yourself.
Tip #2: Consider renting professional décor for the bigger items—arches, draping, lighting. This ensures a polished foundation while leaving room for your personal flair.
Tip #3: Always view décor through the lens of photography. Ask yourself: “Will this age well in photos?”
How Photographers Help Elevate Any Setting
A professional photographer doesn’t just click a button. We move chairs, adjust centerpieces, and angle you toward the best light. I’ve helped couples hide imperfections (like a less-than-perfect wall or a windy outdoor setup) by carefully choosing shooting locations. But if everything in the background is competing for attention, even the most skilled photographer can’t fully shift the focus back to you.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, you don’t need a Pinterest-perfect wedding for your photos to be stunning—you just need thoughtful, intentional choices. Invest where it matters, let your photographer handle the rest, and trust that the best images will be the ones that feel authentic, not overdone.

What is a second shooter: what you need to know about your wedding
In the world of Sacramento and Bay Area wedding photography, a second shooter is like your wedding day’s secret advantage. They’re not an assistant—they’re a fully capable photographer who works in tandem with your lead shooter to create a richer, more complete wedding gallery.
Their Role
Capturing the same moment from different perspectives.
Covering both partners getting ready in different locations.
Photographing guest reactions, candid moments, and venue details while your main photographer is focused elsewhere.
Second Shooter vs. Photography Assistant
An assistant helps carry gear or adjust lighting—a second shooter actively photographs and contributes to your final gallery. This is why working with a wedding photographer who offers a second shooter in Sacramento or the Bay Area can elevate your wedding photos.

Cancún Beach Wedding
kyndra and Juan celebrated their marriage at the Dreams Jade Resort in Cancún, Mexico in March 2024.
The location: Dreams Jade
Dreams Jade is located right on the beach with multiple pools, recliners submerged in water, beach access, and some of the best resort food I have tried! For the adults they have endless drinks and entertainment and an entertainment center for the kiddos. The resort also has a beautiful spa and salon where kyndra got ready for the big day.
Juan got ready in their suite which was fully stalked with the guys favorite beer. The suite had a large private bedroom and living room, a bathtub on one balcony so you can bathe with a view of the ocean. The other balcony was fitted with outdoor seating so you can enjoy that same view with your loved one at sunset.
Each room has an accessible shower, jacuzzi tub, and two sinks so you and your partner can get ready at the same time. The air conditioner was one of my favorite things as it is always warm and humid in the area so walking in at night after a long day in the pool or exploring the area, it’s like heaven. My room also had a balcony which was spacious.
The wedding
Dreams Jade has a few options when it comes to where to get married. You can choose the pergola with a round, square, or octagon arch, beach front, or in their event space with a view of the ocean.
Kyndra and Juan chose the pergola with the most beautiful view of the ocean and the fountain at their feet. They had chosen an all inclusive package which included DJ, catering, hair, makeup, and officiant. They opted for me as their photographer rather than the one provided by the hotel.
They opted in for a Mexican, Catholic ceremony which was beautifully done by the Dreams Jade’s preferred officiant.
After the ceremony, friends moved into their cocktail hour on the balcony over looking the ocean. While friends enjoyed a cocktail and appetizers, me, the family, and wedding party went off for photos. In the grounds.
The dinner and reception was held in their event space. Dinner was Authentic Mexican food provided by Dreams Jade and was delicious. A mariachi band played throughout entrance and dinner. The guests were served a late night “snack” of some of the best pork street tacos I’ve ever had!
We ended the night by watching fireworks and a sparkler exit.

Bay Area Wedding Venue For Animal Lovers - Can You Have A Wedding At A Zoo?
A Whimsical Oakland Zoo Wedding | Sophie & Luke’s Love Story
If you’re dreaming of a Bay Area wedding that’s romantic, memorable, and truly one-of-a-kind, Sophie and Luke’s wedding at the Oakland Zoo’s Snow Building is the perfect inspiration. Nestled among lush trees and just steps away from giraffes, this venue brought together nature, elegance, and heartfelt moments in the most beautiful way.
Sophie and Luke are both passionate teachers who first met at a teacher mixer through a mutual friend and roommate. After a casual happy hour meetup, their connection grew—and seven years later, they said “I do” surrounded by family, friends, and yes—giraffes!
One of the most touching details from their story is how they fell in love. Sophie saw Luke working with kids and was instantly drawn to his compassion. Luke, in turn, was captivated by Sophie’s gentle spirit and warm heart. Their vows, exchanged under a canopy of trees, echoed their mutual admiration and the quiet strength of their bond.
A Ceremony Full of Emotion
Their outdoor ceremony was intimate and emotional. The couple read handwritten vows beneath a rustic wooden arch adorned with baby's breath and greenery, blending seamlessly into the forested setting. The golden afternoon light filtered through the trees, creating a dreamy atmosphere that made every tear and smile feel even more magical.
Sophie looked radiant in a classic off-the-shoulder gown, her long veil flowing behind her as she walked down the aisle. Luke wore a pale blue suit, perfectly complementing the vibrant outdoor surroundings and the warm summer palette of their celebration.
Giraffes, Kisses, and Candid Joy
After the ceremony, the couple wandered through the zoo for portraits—and the giraffes didn’t miss their moment to shine! The photos of Sophie and Luke sharing a sweet kiss with giraffes in the background capture the playfulness and authenticity that defined the entire day. Where else but the Oakland Zoo could you have that kind of magic?
The Snow Building offered the perfect reception space for their guests to celebrate in style while enjoying views of the natural exhibits and surrounding landscape. Every detail was intentional, and the entire day reflected their love for children, learning, and each other.
Planning a Unique Wedding in the Bay Area?

The Prettiest South Bay Wedding Venue - Allied Arts Guild Menlo Park
Brad & Ann’s Romantic Garden Wedding at the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park, California
This magical venue located in the South Bay peninsula—Menlo Park, California—has quickly become one of my favorite wedding venues! The Allied Arts Guild is a hidden gem in the heart of West Menlo Park, full of lush gardens, charming Spanish-style architecture, and warm natural light—perfect for capturing timeless wedding photos. It's a serene, high-end Bay Area wedding venue that feels like a secret garden tucked away in Silicon Valley.
Brad and Ann’s romantic garden wedding at the Allied Arts Guild was a joyful, colorful celebration of their love. The couple chose a garden party-inspired dress code with pastels and florals, and every guest fit beautifully into the whimsical, flower-filled setting. From Ann’s blush pink floral wedding gown to the parasols and watercolor-toned bridesmaid dresses, every detail was soft, elegant, and vibrant.
A Love Story Born in the Dojo
Brad and Ann’s love story began in a karate class. Brad saw Ann teaching a kids’ class and nervously asked if he’d accidentally signed up for the wrong group. She reassured him—and as fate would have it, he was the only student that day. He was immediately struck by her radiant smile and teaching energy. Ann, in turn, was impressed by his dedication and humility (and the way their sensei raved about him didn’t hurt either).
Their bond grew through shared workouts—especially when Brad showed up to one of Ann’s body combat classes and completely held his own. Ann admired his strength and commitment, and Brad loved how her spirit came through in every movement and every smile. It was clear from early on that their connection was more than just physical—it was rooted in joy, admiration, and a deep mutual respect.
A Garden Wedding Filled with Heart and Style
Their Menlo Park wedding was a reflection of everything they love: nature, elegance, connection, and a little bit of whimsy. The ceremony took place under the trees in the garden courtyard, with colorful florals framing the space. Ann walked down the aisle to the ethereal sounds of harpist Kristin Lloyd Harp, setting a romantic tone for the entire day.
Their ceremony was beautifully led by Tomoro Ceremonies, whose words added a personal, thoughtful touch that honored their unique journey. After exchanging vows surrounded by family and friends, Brad and Ann shared their first joyful walk together as husband and wife through the stone paths of the garden.
The florals by Bloomsters, a boutique florist based in San Jose, were bursting with seasonal color—roses, ranunculus, and wildflowers in pinks, purples, and oranges. Each table was named after a different bird (a nod to their love of bird watching), with hand-illustrated cards placed among lush, artistic centerpieces that tied the theme together beautifully.
A Photographer’s Dream Location
From start to finish, Brad and Ann’s day was filled with light, laughter, and love. The Allied Arts Guild’s mix of historic architecture, vibrant florals, and tucked-away garden spaces made for a stunning backdrop at every turn. The natural light filtering through the trees during golden hour was absolute magic—and so were the moments these two shared.
Planning a High-End Wedding in the Bay Area?
If you're searching for the perfect garden wedding venue in the Bay Area, the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park offers the ideal balance of charm, elegance, and natural beauty. Whether you’re envisioning a floral-filled garden party or an intimate outdoor ceremony, this venue provides a unique, elevated canvas for your celebration.
As a Bay Area wedding photographer, I specialize in capturing authentic, joyful moments with an editorial eye—and I’d be honored to tell your story next.

Bring your cap, gown, and cords – Alongside a second outfit to give variety to your gallery.
Wear comfortable shoes – The stone pathways can be uneven, so bring heels for the photos but slip-ons for walking.
Celebrate your personality – Props like champagne, confetti, or your diploma make your photos extra fun.
Book Your Sacramento State Graduation Session
Your Sac State graduation is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. Choosing the William Land Park Rock Garden ensures your photos will be as vibrant and memorable as your college journey.

Why you should have a second shooter for your wedding
When couples start planning their photography, they often wonder if hiring a second shooter is really worth it. As a Sacramento and Bay Area wedding photographer, I can confidently say—yes, it is.
Your wedding day is filled with overlapping moments. A single photographer can only be in one place at a time. A second shooter ensures every emotional glance, every quiet laugh, and every tear-filled reaction is captured.
1. The Importance of Two Photographers
Imagine this: At 3:00 PM, you’re having your first look on the lawn while your guests start arriving at the ceremony site. Your lead photographer is with you, capturing the emotion up close. Meanwhile, your second shooter is documenting guests hugging, kids playing, and the décor details you’ve spent months choosing.
Throughout the day, a second shooter allows for:
Both perspectives at once – Your walk down the aisle and your partner’s reaction.
Complete coverage of prep – The lead with the bride, the second shooter with the groom.
Extra candid moments – While you’re in formal photos, they’re capturing cocktail hour laughter.
Without a second shooter, some of these moments simply wouldn’t be photographed.
2. Why You Should Let Your Photographer Choose the Second Shooter
Your photographer likely has a network of trusted colleagues they’ve worked with before.
They know each other’s shooting styles, so your final gallery is consistent.
They understand each other’s workflow, so they don’t block each other’s shots.
They use gear that produces the same quality of images.
When you hire both photographers as a team, you get the benefit of smooth communication and a polished, cohesive final product.
3. The Cost-Benefit of a Second Shooter
Yes, hiring two photographers is an extra cost—but it’s also one of the highest-value photography investments you can make.
You’re paying for:
More complete storytelling – Two locations, two perspectives, twice the coverage.
Peace of mind – If one shot is missed from one angle, the other likely has it.
Faster family portraits – One photographer poses, the other captures candids between groupings.
Many of my couples tell me some of their favorite images were taken by the second shooter—unexpected moments they didn’t even know happened until they saw their gallery.
💡 Final Thought: You only get one wedding day. Having a second shooter is like adding a second set of eyes, ensuring your gallery is as rich, full, and emotional as the memories themselves.

UC Davis Engagement Session
Romantic UC Davis Arboretum Engagement Session | Alexandria’s Photography
Nestled in the heart of Davis, the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden is one of Northern California’s most peaceful and romantic backdrops for engagement photos. With winding garden paths, vibrant seasonal blooms, and golden sunset light filtering through the trees, this session captured everything that makes California love stories so magical.
A Joy-Filled Afternoon of Love and Laughter
This engagement session was pure sunshine — not just from the warm glow peeking through the trees, but from the energy this couple brought to every moment. From playful kisses among the cactus garden to sweet umbrella strolls down the arboretum paths, their connection radiated in every frame.
The bride-to-be looked stunning in a short white textured dress paired with bright orange statement earrings that popped beautifully against the lush greenery. Her fiancé matched the vibe perfectly with a relaxed white tee and khaki tones that kept the focus on their chemistry and connection.
Sweet Details That Told Their Story
They brought along a few meaningful touches that made their session unique — clear umbrellas for a soft, romantic aesthetic, and even a vintage bicycle decorated with bold florals and “just married” cans trailing behind. These personal details added so much personality and charm, transforming the garden into their own love story backdrop.
And of course, their adorable pup made a guest appearance — complete with a flower collar that matched the bride’s earrings! Including pets in your engagement session is always such a heartfelt way to make your photos even more personal.
Why UC Davis Arboretum is Perfect for Engagement Photos
If you’re looking for an engagement session location in the Sacramento area, the UC Davis Arboretum is a dream choice. The gardens feature:
🌿 Diverse scenery – cactus gardens, oak groves, and tree-lined walking paths
🌸 Beautiful light year-round – perfect for golden hour portraits
🪴 Romantic architecture – bridges, gazebos, and wooden walkways that frame every shot beautifully
🐾 Pet-friendly spaces – so you can bring your dog along for your engagement photos!
Whether you’re going for an elegant, playful, or nature-inspired look, this Davis location offers endless possibilities to match your vibe.
Planning Your Own Engagement Session
When planning your engagement photos at the UC Davis Arboretum, I recommend scheduling your session about two hours before sunset to take advantage of the dreamy golden light that filters through the trees. Bring comfortable shoes for walking between locations, and consider adding props that reflect your story — like a bouquet, blanket, or even a shared hobby.
If you’re envisioning your own Sacramento or Bay Area engagement session, I’d love to help bring your story to life.

What to do at your wedding
Your wedding day is filled with once-in-a-lifetime memories, but there are a few bridal moments that every bride should slow down and truly savor. Whether you’re planning a luxury wedding in the Bay Area or an intimate Sacramento celebration, these moments are the ones that will stay with you forever.
1. Getting Ready Surrounded by Your Favorite People
The excitement in the air as you slip into your gown, surrounded by your bridesmaids, family, or closest friends, is one of the most emotional parts of the day. The laughter, shared stories, and teary hugs all make the morning unforgettable. In Sacramento and Bay Area weddings, many brides choose light-filled hotel suites or charming Airbnb rentals as the perfect backdrop for these bridal prep photos.
2. The First Look
Whether it’s with your partner or with your parents, the first look is pure magic. The anticipation, nervous energy, and pure emotion all come together in one breathtaking moment. Many Bay Area couples love a first look among towering redwoods or along the coast, while Sacramento weddings often take advantage of romantic gardens or historic estates for this heartfelt reveal.
3. Walking Down the Aisle
There is nothing quite like the feeling of taking those steps down the aisle. For a few moments, time slows as you lock eyes with your partner, surrounded by the love of your guests. Sacramento wedding venues like the William Land Park Rock Garden or Bay Area locations like the Berkeley Botanical Garden offer stunning aisle views that make this moment even more cinematic.
4. The Vows
Sharing your promises—whether whispered privately during a first look or spoken in front of family and friends—is one of the most intimate parts of your wedding day. Every couple adds their own style, but this is a sacred moment you’ll never forget.
5. The First Kiss as a Married Couple
It’s the most iconic part of every ceremony: your first kiss as newlyweds. The cheers, applause, and smiles around you will make you feel like the world is celebrating your love. Many Sacramento and Bay Area photographers capture this moment with wide, sweeping shots so you can remember the joy forever.
6. Sneaking Away for Golden Hour Portraits
After the ceremony, take a few quiet moments away from the crowd for golden hour portraits. The glowing California light in Sacramento’s vineyards or the Bay Area’s coastal cliffs makes this moment feel both dreamy and cinematic. It’s also a chance for you and your partner to just breathe, soak it all in, and share a private celebration.
7. The First Dance
Your first dance is more than just a tradition—it’s a chance to pause and feel the love in the room. Whether you’re twirling under twinkle lights in a Sacramento ballroom or swaying in a Bay Area courtyard, this moment is one of pure romance.
8. A Private Last Dance
One of the most underrated bridal moments is the last dance—just you and your partner, after your guests have cleared the dance floor. Many couples in Sacramento and Bay Area weddings cherish this as their chance to connect one last time before the night ends.

How to announce your pregnancy, a San Francisco Pregnancy Photoshoot
How to Announce Your Pregnancy with Photos: A Beautiful Reveal at Baker Beach
Pregnancy announcements are one of the most exciting and emotional milestones to share with loved ones, and what better way to capture that moment than through a heartfelt photoshoot? Whether you're telling your family, friends, or social media community, a photo-based reveal adds a lasting, visual memory to this special chapter of your life.
Recently, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful couple at Baker Beach in San Francisco as they shared the news of their growing family. With the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, soft coastal winds, and the joy of new beginnings in the air, it was a dreamy setting for a pregnancy reveal.
1. When Should You Announce?
While the right time to announce your pregnancy is entirely personal, many couples choose to share the news after the first trimester, around 12–14 weeks. By this point, the initial ultrasounds are often completed, and many feel ready and excited to let their loved ones in on the journey.
A photoshoot during this time is perfect—not only are you likely to have your first sonogram images, but you may also be starting to show just enough for a little baby bump to peek through in your pictures.
That said, some couples announce earlier for close friends and family, while others wait longer. Do what feels right for you!
2. Choose a Meaningful Location
Baker Beach offers an iconic and breathtaking backdrop with the Golden Gate Bridge, rolling hills, and coastal views. It’s the perfect location for couples who want their announcement to feel both personal and cinematic. The beach’s neutral tones paired beautifully with the couple’s outfits and created a timeless palette for their photos.
3. Incorporate Ultrasounds or Baby Items
Holding ultrasound prints during your shoot is a sweet and simple way to let the world in on your news. In this shoot, the couple gently cradled the sonogram strip together, showcasing their excitement and pride. It added a deeply emotional and tangible touch to the photos, helping tell their story without saying a word.
Other props to consider:
Baby shoes or booties
A “Coming Soon” sign
A letterboard with your due date
Matching onesies for you and your partner (or even your pets!)
4. Let Your Love Shine Through
One of my favorite moments from this session was the candid interaction between the couple—laughing, kissing, holding each other, and showing genuine joy. These photos aren’t just about announcing a baby—they’re about documenting your love and connection in a new chapter of life.
Don’t be afraid to show your affection. Your natural chemistry will make the announcement that much more beautiful and authentic.
5. Include Your Pets
If your pets are part of the family, bring them along! This couple brought their two sweet pups who happily joined in on the fun, making the shoot even more special and memorable. It’s a reminder that your whole family is growing—paws and all.
6. Keep It Comfortable and Authentic
You don’t have to overthink it—comfort and authenticity always shine brightest on camera. The mother-to-be wore a soft, form-fitting floral dress that highlighted her bump while staying elegant and earthy. Barefoot in the sand, wind in her hair—it was effortlessly gorgeous.

Couples Wedding Photos With Vintage Car - California wedding
Vintage Car Wedding Photos at Fairview Napa
There’s something timeless about incorporating a vintage car into your wedding day. Beyond being a stylish way to make an entrance or exit, a classic car adds character and romance to your wedding photos. At this Fairview Napa wedding in Napa, California, the couple chose a vintage cream-colored car decorated with florals and greenery, and it became the perfect backdrop for unforgettable portraits.
For this bride and groom, who planned a destination wedding in Napa Valley, the car was more than just transportation—it was a statement piece that blended perfectly with the rustic elegance of Fairview Napa, a golf course wedding venue known for its vineyard views and sunset light.
Creating Romantic Wedding Car Portraits
One of the most iconic shots of the day was the bride seated in the back of the car, her gown cascading over the edge as the groom gently held her hand. The scene captured both elegance and intimacy, with the soft Napa light filtering through the trees.
We also leaned into more candid moments—laughs exchanged while sitting side by side, leaning in for a kiss, and even relaxed portraits of the bride seated on the side of the car with her bouquet in hand. These kinds of poses keep the gallery dynamic, mixing editorial-style portraits with authentic storytelling.
The Car as a Natural Frame
A vintage car works beautifully as a natural frame for portraits. From close-up detail shots of the bride’s veil against the leather interior to wide shots of the couple leaning against the car, every angle tells a different story. The cream tones of the vehicle paired with white floral garlands matched seamlessly with the bride’s sparkling gown and the groom’s black tuxedo.
For couples considering adding a vintage car, remember: it’s not just about the ride—it’s about how the car becomes part of your day’s aesthetic. At Fairview Napa, the car contrasted beautifully against the venue’s tall pines and golden golf course views, giving the photos an old-world yet romantic Napa Valley charm.
Why Vintage Cars Shine at Fairview Napa
Fairview Napa is already one of the most picturesque wedding venues in Napa Valley, with sweeping views, oak trees, and a serene golf course setting. Adding a vintage car elevates the experience and creates photo opportunities that feel straight out of a classic film.
For couples traveling to Northern California for a destination wedding, details like a vintage getaway car add personality and help tell the story of your celebration. It’s a small touch that makes a big visual impact—one your guests (and your photo album) will never forget.
Final Thoughts
If you’re planning a Napa Valley wedding at Fairview Napa, consider incorporating a vintage car into your day. Whether you use it for your grand exit, a romantic portrait session, or simply as a backdrop for photos, it’s a detail that adds timeless elegance.
This couple’s Fairview Napa wedding showed just how magical the combination of sunset light, vineyard charm, and a vintage getaway car can be. The result? Wedding photos that feel both glamorous and deeply personal—a perfect reflection of their love story.
